Report on the Follow-Up of the Diablo Mudo Exploration Project
This document reports on the second follow-up of the Diablo Mudo Exploration Project undertaken by the Compania Minera Raura S.A. located in the Cordillera Huayhuash Reserved Zone. Three principal findings were presented in the report: at three monitoring stations the measures of pH and Zinc (Zn) were above the Maximum Permissible Limits for mining activity (D.S. 010-2010-MINAM); at several monitoring stations the measures for pH, aluminium (Al), cadmium (Cd), manganese (Mn), nickel (Ni), lead (Pb) y zinc (Zn) were above the national standards for drinking water (category 1 D.S. 002-2008-MINAM); at the possible spill site there is a greasy substance that appears to be diesel based on smell and taste.
NOTE: THIS IS A TRANSLATED AND SHORTENED VERSION OF THE ORGINAL REPORT THAT WAS PROVIDED TO SEVERAL PUBLIC AGENCIES, NGOs, AND COMMUNITIES IN PERU IN NOVEMBER OF 2011. FOR THE ORIGINAL VERSION IN SPANISH PLEASE SEE http://cdhuayhuash.org/mdocs-posts/2011noviembre_informe_diablomudo_final
